Safety in ALCOA
RE-CORTA, Demolición Técnica, S.L. has transported two Brokk 330 demolition robots to the San Cibrao’s factory, which the ALCOA international company has in LUGO.
The potential work’s danger has made the client opt for the safer option: a robot operated by remote control from a safe position for the operator. Among the guidelines provided by the customer security and the execution time were included. Thus, the work was carried out in seven days, working double uninterrupted shifts.
ALCOA is a U.S. company, the largest aluminum producer in the world. Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1888, it adopted the name Aluminum Co. of America in 1907, which is where it gets its current name from. Alcoa introduced aluminum foil in 1910 and found uses for aluminium in the emerging aviation and automotive industries. In 1913, Alcoa established itself in East Tennessee’s town as an industrial community. In 1998 Alcoa acquired Alumax Inc., a manufacturer of plastic containers and packaging equipment. Also in 1998 acquired most of the resources of the INI company engaged in the manufacture of aluminum Inespal (production centers in San Ciprian, Coruña, Oviedo, Amorebieta, Alicante, Sabiñánigo and Noblejas).
